If all you have is "I don't like Trump's character", that is a very weak argument against him, and it's pitiful that these are the best anti-Trump material you have. You are also a very poor judge of character, if you think Trump is so much worse than the alternatives, even on the character tip.

Ironic that character was always the issue raised by Republicans to go after Clinton.

Forgetting personal life, it’s how Trump speaks to and about people publicly that I think falls short of his office.

Republicans going after Clinton on character was as big of a sign of weakness from Republicans as it is from Democrats when they go after Trump on character. It is a lame angle of attack, no matter which side is doing it.

Attacking a politician on character is either a distraction from the actual things they deserve to be criticized for, or they are resorting to attacking their character because there is nothing relevant to criticize that is swaying public opinion, so they reach for irrelevant things to criticize in order to critique them because it's all they got.

Was Canada so concerned about "increased tensions" caused by other Iran inspired events in the region ?

Were Canadian nationals advised not to travel in the area ?

Did Canada refuse to deploy 500 troops in the region because it might "increase tensions" with Iran ?

Nope.

News flash to Canada....President Donald Trump was elected to "increase tensions" with Iran.

He openly bashed Obama's Iran strategy when running for office, it shouldn't be news to anyone paying attention that he wasn't nearly as keen on appeasing Iran as Obama, it was plain as day.

Revolution Part II if the cards fall correctly. Might see a few mullah's hang from cranes for a change.

However, unlike the Third Reich with what? Eleven years or so or brutalizing Germany and the world...Iran's religious fascists have had a much longer time to entrench.

The 'people' might need some assistance...enter Kermit Trump...heh.

I hope not.

It would be a massacre, and revolutions in that part of the world just seem to be an exercise in "out of the frying pan...".

When Khemenei or whatever his name is dies, and theres a bit of a power vacuum, maybe the people could ramp up the pressure for a positive change.

Dictators who are already on the throne tend to think that they are the positive change that's required.

True...

Or they may be hanged from their balls.

On a serious note, it is problematic when religion is mixed with politics be it Islam, Christianity, Judaism or whatever ....ism exists out there. You get my drift.

This is Justin new talking points " lets blame the US" because Canadians understand that...They can get behind that, as we love to finger point the US. Lets keep the blame were it deserves to be, fully on Iran , be it an accident or intentional Iran pulled the trigger on that missile... It is Iran who is in full control of their airspace, not the US, Iran knew that the US would retaliate any military action that caused casualties, hence why the Irian alert...and yet Civilian air traffic is allowed to fly after only 2 hours after the rocket attack....COME ON...the US is good but unless those planes were fueled and on the tar mac ready to go, mission package already in hand........2 hours is not enough to plan an attack and execute it....

Next did Iran tell all inter national flights why the airspace was closed for 2 hours, and if so why did the Ukraine pilots decide it was a good time to get out of dodge, knowing there was a high probability of military action in the air...not only over Iran but over Iraq as well....and if they did not know anything why did Iran not tell them for their own safety, or once again why did they not close all air traffic for a longer period of time.... perhaps that was part of the plan, to put  more westerns at risk...

I don't think there is much talk about should the General have been killed, he was after all a man who supplied, trained, equipped foreign terrorist that have killed or maimed US and NATO troops, and I might add that includes our troops as well the good General had been suppling the Taliban forever....Trump signed off on his death 7 months previous, and an opportunity opened up and US armed forces decided to pull the trigger, was it the best time maybe not....but would they get another window maybe not...the Gen had huge balls to be traveling abroad in the first place...

Justin was handling this like a professional at the start, and then he had to start talking off script, and blaming the US... WTF, even the media were steering this in that direction from the start... what a mess....and what do the Irian born Canadians want....they don't want Justins tears that is for sure, they want the Irian military labeled as terrorist...they don't blame the US they blame Iran, we should all take a page from their play book...

glad we're all in agreement that Trump just caused the deaths of innocent Canadian civilians and others on that plane.

its a tinderbox and Trump just threw in the match. no need for heads up for anybody... including our troops. he's a military genius, of course.

In addition to Trump's actions that lead to these deaths is Trump's inaction.  He should have warned his closest allies that travelling to Iran was going to be especially dangerous due to the action he was going to take, an action that was apparently planned 7 months ago Trump now informs us.

Deliberate mass murder with 2 missiles.

Conservatives brought a successful vote in Parliament in June 2018 to have the IRGC listed as a terrorist entity. The Liberals voted for the measure but have not made the listing. It's time to recognize the responsibility IRGC bears for its destructive influence and warmongering. They started this by attacking the

:(

False news flash. President Trump was elected with the agenda that if elected he would withdraw from the deal and American people elected him well knowing this fact. The reason he said because the deal was weak and in Iran's regime favor and if not replaced would result in barbaric terrorist mullahs build the nuclear bomb and that would have been a serious danger to the whole world.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THEY WOULD DO TO AMERICANS AND ISRAELIS and the whole world WHEN THEY SHOOT THEIR OWN PEOPLE IN THE BACK????. These are the most dangerous (sub)humans in the world. Worse than Hitler by a long shot. WAKE UP PEOPLE AND SMELL THE REALITY. TAKE OUT THE CANCEROUS ORGAN before it is too late, Help the Iranian people to send them t hell where they belong and be on the side of the weak and defenseless (Iranians as President Trump claims to be) NOT the murderous regime of Iran.

They started this by attacking the embassy.

They retaliated against the embassy because of the harm sanctions were doing.

We can go back as far in time as we want but I'm pretty sure a truth and reconciliation commission will pick a point that's actually relevant, like 1953 for example.  Whatever the date is the powers that be will likely still be hotly debating it long past our lifetimes.  The Cold War is really the only war I can think of that didn't have any kind of process by which the peace was negotiated or reconciled in any way.  Clearly there are many loose ends that are like untreated slivers that have seemingly healed over but only in a way that's trapped underlying infections that are threatening to become septic.

In any case the lack of warning from Trump that it's allies might want to issue travel advisories to their citizens with regards to travelling in or out of Iran will probably form the basis of a civil negligence suit against Trump by either Canada or a group of victim's families. If the USS Vincennes is anything to go by the US will pay up around the time it's carving Trump's head onto Mt Rushmore.

Nonsense...Iran has strict legal liability for shooting down the airliner.   Compensation will follow the Montreal Convention, plus any punitive damages that a court may try to enforce against Iran.
