Trump Vs Trudeau on Coronavirus

Yeah and Trump did it right away. Look how many deaths the US has compared to Canada (per capita considered)

Cause and Correlation?

At least Canada has the ability to test anyone that needs it, unlike the US.

In the US the first place the virus hit was an old folks home in Washington State.

It's not a mater of how man cases you have, it's a matter of what demographic is infected.

There are thousands of people who have it and don't know, or who don't have severe enough symptoms to seek medical care.

Yeah and the only Canadians that have died are 70 plus. The first in Ontario today. The rest can be linked to one Retirement home in BC.

The idea that people have it and don't know it is why our economies are shutting down.

Neither leader deserves any credit for better planning. Both are responding to the situation in Italy. Italy had similar numbers to North America 2 weeks ago and now the virus is overwhelming their first world healthcare system. And people who don't have service sector jobs can't even go to work.

All measures are meant to prevent everyone getting it at the same time.

QED

Just go over my posts really slowly now, and try to understand them instead of just recycling that jumble of CBC/CNN taking points that's floating around in your head.

I'll break the first part of that last post down for ya.

Quote

Support what? Him running and hiding? Him failing to take the obvious, basic steps to keep the virus out? His blatant lack of foresight, direction or control?

"Closing our borders won't do anything.... OK now closing our borders is a thing.... we don't need to check foreign travellers for signs of infection.... ok we should check for signs of infection, but we're not... our Canadians who were on a cruise ship where the virus was present need to go into quarantine for 14 days because the flu is contagious even before symptoms appear, but travellers straight outta Wuhan without visible symptoms are free to stroll around".....

Of course I don't support any of that idiotic bullshit. Of course our media tells all the various parts of the story without realizing how idiotic it all is. Of course you are ok with whatever Trudeau does because you're a Liberal and you will never find fault with anything that Trudeau does.

1) Him running and hiding refers to him just self-quarantining, instead of getting tested so that if he doesn't have the virus he can go out in public and at least pretend to be a leader.

2) Failing to take obvious courses of action is just a basic recognition of the fact that there's a virus coming out Wuhan that kills people, so maybe not allowing people from there to fly directly to Canada is a good idea.

3) Blatant lack of foresight, direction and control refers to him not seeing the value of closing the border to travellers from China, and subsequently not doing anything at all. He didn't even have to get the idea himself, he just had to recognize the value of it after seeing other people do it.

That's a starter, now you can work your way through the rest. When you get it, you'll feel something called cognitive dissonance. That's when the old CNN/CBC talking points that were floating around in your head start getting destroyed by logic. You'll hate it at first, then eventually you'll wonder why you never tried this logic thing in the first place. See ya in a couple weeks.

Only problem is, people (especially on this site) are talking about how Trump's response to coronavirus should disqualify him from being POTUS.

Those same people can't find any fault at all with Trudeau, who did far less, and then changed his mind back and forth on extremely important topics (such as allowing international travellers to waltz into Canada) before finally enacting Trump's policy from 45 days ago.

These are basic facts that are highlighted in the video clips, which are already posted in this thread, and the comments posted in the the "Will coronavirus be the end of Trump" thread.

It's indisputable. Trudeau apologists are bashing Trump for his leadership in this matter, but it's proven that Trump has been, by far, the better leader of the two.

Trudeau could have done more sooner, but Trump was off message for a long time.  He tried to hand off C-19 to Pence and refused to take responsibility for any of the response until it became clear that he had to lead.  Now he is leading, as is Trudeau.  Everyone is smartening up in a hurry.

And yet....they are following Trump's lead!

Lol.  Take note - the White House said avoid groups of 10 (which is more sensible to recommendations by experts of avoiding groups of 50)!  What are they thinking?  It's not like as if Canadians will shrivel up and die if they don't make any people contact!  Why are they mincing about this, if it's such a serious situation?  The more people are in your group, the greater the risk!

Whether you're an expert or not, it shouldn't be too hard to see that avoiding any groups at all is the most sensible thing to do!

What do you think is the best recommendation?  Avoiding groups as large as 10, or 50?

Something tells me.....in a couple of days.....they'll be updating that to no larger than groups of 10.  Maybe, they just don't want to seem like they're following Trump's lead.

Wrong.

1) Trudeau didn't do anything at all. He actually made a point of saying that things which were extremely important were a bad idea. Three weeks ago it was fine for people from Wuhan to waltz into Canada. Now Canadians who never set foot off-continent can't even waltz around.

2) Appointing the VP to head the coronavirus task force is far more than Trudeau has done. Trudeau is in hiding, and we just have some weak women (Canada's health minister and BC's health minister) babbling incoherently about covid. Honest to god, have a clear & concise message, say some important things, get the f off my tv screen to make room for an actual Dr to speak.

3) Trudeau isn't leading, he's in hiding and he's following Trump. He's just 45 days behind.

Trump isn't a politician.  Whatever he says, is being politicized.

Completely avoid elderly people and people with compromised health. Completely. Groups of two are two large.

Don't go hold your mom's hand, you might be killing her.

If you're not healthy in general, avoid other people completely.

If you need to get your elderly family member some supplies, wear a mask and gloves when you go to buy them, put them out in the sun where your family member can get to them themselves, they should leave leave them there as long as they can before picking them up. Sunlight kills viruses.

It's a no-brainer!

We had to give up our international students after the agency made such an irresponsible decision - letting a teener have his March Break in Toronto.  I don't care what the government says - last Wednesday (things were starting to escalate) , we told him,  if you go to Toronto, you can't come back to us!

We are at that age, and we've got several families that can also get impacted if he brings back the virus.  What did this agency do?  Kick the can to another hosting family a couple of houses down (who are also seniors!)  The lad's father advised him not to go - he is still in Toronto.

How can you have confidence in an agency like that?

Have I been saying that? I'm critical of both.

I think Trump has been wilfully dishonest in talking about this issue. He only admitted this was "bad" yesterday.

And as noted earlier, banning travel from China hasn't helped much compared to Canada not banning travel from China until now.

Trump evacuated Canadians from Wuhan before Trudeau even had planes in the air.

Maybe because CBC wasn't available in their resort but CNN was.

Anyone that's still abroad now, only have themselves to blame.

Or maybe because Justin Trudeau was still in hiding while Trump was making travel ban decisions and the task force was providing daily briefings.

Even the CBC was using "flatten the curve" graphics from the U.S. CDC.

Yeah Trump is irresponsibly in the public even though he's been exposed to the virus.

Trump is the president and must be visible to the American public.

Even Canada covers Trump more than Trudeau who was in hiding until recently.   It was Trump Trump Trump on CBC even before this outbreak.

Trump's wife does not have the virus.

Trump got a good one in when asked about his use of the phrase “Chinese Virus”:

REPORTER: “Critics say that using that phrase creates a stigma.”

TRUMP: “No, I don’t think so. I think saying that our military gave it to them creates a stigma.”

What’s with your worship of Trump, the guy who said C-19 would disappear like a miracle?  Anyway, the conservative and liberal folks are history.  The only people who should be running the show right now are technical experts.  Too many celebrities and not enough experts.

We don't know the numbers.

They're telling people not to get tested unless they're really sick here.

I have a cough, my wife has a cough, but I'm not a "covid infected stat" at the present time.

I'm not worshipping Trump I'm just saying that he's running circles around our drama teacher, uhhhh snowboard instructor, uhhh Prime Minister lol. And yet people are upset about Trump and just giving Trudeau a pass on everything.

They’re both populist politicians.  80’s Trump isn’t so different from Trudeau.  Neither of them are biomedical experts.

That's been tried, it doesn't work, those are the folks who led America into Vietnam, "The Best and The Brightest" are overrated. Your faith in experts when it comes to governance is misguided, the technocrats suck at their jobs. That's a big reason why Trump got elected in the first place, a backlash against the useless globalist technocrats with shiny credentials, who think they know better than everyone else, and who demonize any who disagree with them as racists.

Every time the technocrats are given the ball they turn it over via incompetence, but some people want to give them the ball right back and expect a different result this time, some of these folks will never learn, no matter how many times they put their hand on that stove. No True Technocrat, womp womp.
