Nobody cares about what politicians say or do behind closed doors...recall the spread of this crisis has been laid at the feet of a government shrouded in secrecy.

Doesn't matter....government didn't manage fisheries any better, remember ?

Stop putting so much faith and expectation in government for this pandemic.

Yes but your constitution would never let you go as far as South Korea, at least not without scoop trucks.

Yes it would....martial law.    I needn't remind you of what happened to Japanese-Canadians during WW2.

The doctors have been guessing and bungling, starting with the World Health Organization.

Look...here's the deal.

People who prepared and had their affairs in order more independently will have more options...those who didn't/don't will get the government plan.

...and still bitch about it.

They are already bitching because the cheques have not arrived fast enough.

Trudeau is going to find out that even in his zeal to help all Canadians, many will still crucify him because the government cannot distribute pogey and cash fast enough.     Will turn into another cluster....

Some Americans could wait 20 weeks to receive stimulus checks, IRS tells House Democrats

Americans likely won't begin to see direct payments from the coronavirus stimulus bill until at least April 13 and it could take 20 weeks for all the checks to be mailed, Trump administration officials told lawmakers, according to a House Democratic memo obtained by CNN.

But it will always be worth more than yours.

I don't need the welfare now...or later.

Apparently you do.

That's the spirit....Que sera, sera.   We will donate the money to a worthy cause.

American dollars can buy more.....Trudeau is finding that out right now for masks and ventilators.

Flight to quality during this pandemic has been more to the U.S. dollar.

....and then there is the bottom falling out for oil...which is a commodity.

You'll have to ask Trudeau 'bout that....especially after Doug Ford drops the bomb on projected deaths on Friday.

It is Lent I think, so fish for Friday, right ?

There will be more restrictions soon.  Trudeau is keeping his powder dry because he knows more hardship is coming.  My take on the economic aspect is that if everyone takes a haircut financially, perhaps as much as 20-25%, then fewer people will take bigger hits and lose everything.  Share the wealth.  We get into trouble when some people think they shouldn’t make any sacrifices while others make big sacrifices.  That’s where government has an important role to play, to maintain a sensible plan that keeps the country whole.

I'm pretty sure they will, and the media will make Trudeau out to be the next Messiah.  I've seen elsewhere people blaming Ford for the Ontario shortage.

Trudeau messed up in the beginning and still is on closing borders and flights from hot spots, due to political correctness.  I think we all are willing to give a lot of leeway for any gov't in this situation, however, Trudeau's attempted back door audacious power grab (by any standards)   which the opposition managed to stop was unforgivable IMO.  I guess Trudeau believes in not letting a good crisis go to waste.  No one should forget that or forgive it.

His daily forays outside for a controlled press conference is interesting as he seems to be the only leader in hiding; his isolation period is long over and his wife is at Harrington Lake so what is the real reason for him hiding.  The only real reason I can think of is that the party has him on a leash with a written script to read from, as he can't be allowed to go off script.

If this goes on for months rather than weeks it will be a different country and way of life, we may be into a depression with deep unemployment so how that is handled will be telling.

I'm pretty sure thats what they said about the last 2 pandemics we've had, "does anyone have any points, GOOD, meeting adjoined " perhaps this one is the one everyone is going to expect more out of, at least the lack of preparations including no stocked supplies and equipment, " not to mention the time wasted when this virous was in china and spreading rapidly...what was major hospitals doing about getting prepared, one would guess it was not stocking up on supplies, or ensuring they had enough equipment. All levels of government have had a hand in this failure....

Justins attempt to grab total power was a dick move, but then again liberals are going to shrug their shoulders and say he done what he had to and like you said make statues for him, pray to him in their closets...nothing he does will change their minds.

I agree with you things are going to look much different, It will give us pause to think, I think we will implement things such as more shopping on line, makes more sense, don't need all those concrete stores, less on wages, benefits sell on line , ship direct from the factory floor, or one massive warehouse. might even make us more competitive on the global market, or bringing more manufacture jobs back home...or ordering your food or groceries on line , pre paying for it then just picking it up or having it delivered.  or maybe I'm full of shi$

Maybe it will change  education, driving more classes online, once again no more steel and concrete buildings, less teachers serving more students at the university level , maybe even more online course for other school levels....

More working from home, saving on office space or size of office space.

Perhaps change the way we house our elderly in homes, in effect making them someone else problem, maybe we should keep them in our own homes, like back in the day...and hire our own care workers if need be...

lots of things are going to change...I hope...

Well I think there are opportunities for improving overall health, safety, and wellness post-pandemic, but if that includes a kind of endless government and media enforced fear of community participation, I think we’ve lost.  It’s not about living at any cost. People fought for freedom because they believed it was worth dying for.  We can’t lose sight of what makes life worth living.

I doubt that we will see something like this again. I believe if we have another virus, they will handle it better from the beginning. Borders and travel should be closed right away. Masks and patient tracking will become a priority.

Before the pandemic, in Japan, you'd see people wearing masks often, to reduce the chances of passing viruses to others. There is a sense of respect for the people around you. Not sure if people are aware, but Sweden has taken a different approach than other countries in Europe. We'll see what will happen there:

One thing that has changed forever is that socialism is here to stay.

That's the ultimate price of unpreparedness - even Marx would be saying "told you so".

There has already been 2 pandemics, then this one, how many more do we need to have before it's ok to take all the recommended  precautions.

In a lot of Asian countries wearing of masks was mostly done because of the quality of air more than anything, them protecting themselves.

Ya because it socialism has worked out so well for the other nations that practice it right...besides one can be prepared and still practice capitalism. the largest military in the world is based on being prepared, and it belongs to Uncle Sam the largest country to practice capitalism.

LOL, yes the government will take over the means of production, and produce and delivery goods more efficiently!

Thanks, I needed a good laugh at the end of this work week.

And Uncle Sam printed and borrowed trillions of dollars like a bunch of drunken tree dwelling socialists with no sense of accountability to pay for it.
