Can the government be sued for gross negligence?

Good question.

Report: U.S. Intelligence Officials Warned About Coronavirus In Wuhan In Late November

An intelligence report from the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence in November, compiled through wire and computer intercepting and satellite imagery, reportedly concluded that an outbreak of the virus "could be a cataclysmic event."

BTW isn't the US required to share this sort of information with it's BFF's?  I thought we were prepared for things like this with treaties and alliances.

Whoever dropped this ball should be shot alongside Xi Jinping for the same reason.

No....why didn't Canada collect the information by itself ?

Because it can't....that costs money.

We can’t even produce our own medical equipment.  We need to place orders in the United States.

Pik if your neighbour's wife was infected would you let her husband into your house?  Would you want him anywhere near your kids or grand-kids or vulnerable elderly parents?  If you saw him in a local grocery store would you freak out or remain calm and secure in your ability to reason that if its okay for the fucking leader to be out in public virus be damned then why not everyone who lives in an infected house?

Why do you people insist on letting your ridiculous partisan dumb-fuckery obliterate your ability to engage your brains before putting your stupid mouths in gear?

And what about you scribblet, what happens when you put yourself in the shoes of someone you know lives in an infected household?

He is the leader argus and leaders lead, they don't hide. Why cant you get thar thru your skull. Just imagine if stephen Harper was hiding under his wife's dress. All he had to was get the test and he would know. But I guess he wanted a little lovin at night ,so he stayed put. Sorry argus but that is not right for a leader to do. But then He has been regulated to be the face only of the party only. Freeland was still out there doing her thing, with the help of doug ford.

You'd be seeing him on your TV screen regardless.

I don't see how this hiding is relevant. He would have gotten exposed to the virus.

If this crisis has taught us anything, it's that we can all accomplish a lot from home using technology.

When are you going to be civil and when are you going to put your brain in gear and take a paradigm shift away from you vitriolic spew.

I don't expect him to be shaking hands and kissing babies,   14 ..17 days in isolation was fine but sophie, kids and his mother have been at Harrington Lake, so he really can pop out of his nest to start leading as other leaders are doing, in a responsible manner. Why did he never get tested, it is looking suspicious.

Mind you, it's not as if he ever answers anything or says anything meaningful,  and we do have him to thank for the spread because of his refusal to sup international travel.

With any other administration that would be reassuring. With THIS administration, which fires anyone who dares to disagree with it on any matter whatsoever, it's not. The White House could easily have ordered them to make such a statement and they'd have to do it or quit.

What conspiracy theory? This is the administration that just fired the IG for HHS because his department had the temerity to issue a report about the lack of resources hospitals have. This is the administration which fired the secretary of the navy because he was unhappy treating a murderer as a hero. This is the administration which just fired the IG for the intelligence community because he obeyed the law which requires him to pass on information to congress. It also fired an army colonel for obeying a subpoena and testifying before congress.

This administration does not allow anyone to do their job if it conflicts with what Trump wants, regardless of the law. You either lie and break the law as he wants or you're out.

If you have a reason to believe that the director of the center for medical intelligence would not just remain quiet, but come out and release a statement, provide evidence.  Otherwise, it’s a crack pot conspiracy theory.  You’re watching too much Fox News.

By the way, you mean the way Trudeau fires people that disagree with him too, right?

There's nothing crackpot about watching this corrupt administration of grifters destroy the careers of anyone who dares to contradict them. Anyone who associates with them winds up dirtied, like that idiot navy doctor who told everyone that Trump was the healthiest man on the face of the earth, became a laughingstock, and then was booted out.

If you have evidence of him firing public servants for doing their jobs, let us know. So far all I know about are politicians.

Who did he fire who wasn't a politician?

I'm not an admirer of the shallow, callow, virtue-signalling idiot, but he's still about fifty points higher on the IQ scale than that demented, screaming shit stain to the south.

I guess we can agree to disagree.  I don’t believe that the military that run the pentagon would pretend they didn’t warn Trump if they did.

He fired members of his administration.  For doing their jobs, because it conflicted with his.  In fact, I heard that Trudeau was warned about the virus in November.  Prove me wrong.  See, we can all participate in conspiracy theories.  Since they’re unprovable, they’re worthless.

But god forbid we have just one topic reserved for the Trudeau government.  For some reason every topic turns into Trump.  Is it not possible to have a thread that doesn’t drift to Trump by you people?  China lies, Europe completely botches the response, but for some reason Trump takes 99% of the criticism on here.  It’s absolutely absurd.

This one drifted to Trump in the second post,  by the OP, as it happens, who thinks Trump is the resurrection of Christ and the most godly and wonderful man who ever lived. It has been kept alive by people telling him he's wrong, and then the Trump cult rushing in with desperate anger to defend their sacred cult leader and scream "BLASPHEME!".

Under the constitution, these are presidentially appointed positions.  They can be hired or fired as the president sees fit.

Well sure it was banned, just no more effectively than using a piece of Swiss Cheese for a face mask is all.  The ban will provide a text book example of how to increase complacency and a false sense of security.  Just like mandatory face masks will.

I'm pretty sure you'd still be pleading lies and fake news if they didn't pretend and did warn Trump or someone who certainly should have.  My guess is that you can't stand ever agreeing with something once you've decided to disagree with it.
