Canada's national debt out of control...

it's hilarious to recall that adherents to the Church of AGW were said to be the quintessential doomsters but they've got nothing at all compared to the apocalyptic vision debt cultists apparently subscribe to.

It is up to their own people not me and you to bring about change. And change will comes. Murderous regimes are diminishing. It used to be the whole world in 18th century and then Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America, Asia in 20th century and only about a dozen regimes in 21 century. Human race is evolving. The Apes are diminishing.

Well then, it is up to their own people that are living in those third world countries to look after their own affairs, and not get me to pay for their constant incompetence thru foreign aid from Canada. I doubt that communist regimes like in China, North Korea or Cuba will be going down soon. If Biden and the deep state globalists wins the next election,  then we will see plenty of new murderous regimes come to life. We all better hope that Trump wins the next election. You think that Trudeau is bad now, just wait and see what happens if Trump loses the election. Trudeau is a globalist and he will do whatever they tell him to do. Your ass is his then for the kicking. Just saying.

Lack of education is part of that. Part of foreign aid is going to build schools in third world countries as well as other infrastructures and food programs.

What do you mean by "color of passport"? I am still waiting for a reply on that.

Well they come and go like species too. They rise evolve decline then fade away. So what makes our's so special?

It comes to mind that we're now officially an interstellar species so good on us I suppose.  Mind you a couple of machines heading out into the galaxy is one thing,  if we were capable of actually sending ships full of humans we'd probably be more like the quintessential monsters from space than the do-gooding virtue signallers from the Federation.

I mean,  there's probably as many or more civilizations on Earth that have disappeared due to invasion so...seems logical to wonder what makes alien civilizations so special?

To be honest that was the only successful strategy back in the eras of war, pestilence and famine. You couldn't just have 1 or 2 children and expect them to survive. Children also functioned as cheap labour, lessening the burden on their parents. Homesteaders used to have 10 or more kids here no problem, they'd all work on the farms.

In this country, with the eradication of child labour, having a lot of children has become a burden for working families. It became normal to just have two kids, that way you could have the time & money to give them opportunities and have them in extra-curricular activities.

Times are changing again though, as the welfare state kicked in and people are starting to discover that if they belch out enough kids their welfare will take care of it.

The people with 1 or 2 kids, who work and give their kids opportunities, are becoming the villains now, as their children are considered 'privileged'. If you want to be cool you shouldn't work and be responsible with your money, you need to sit back and collect welfare and then demand that your kids get the exact same opportunities as everyone else's kids get.

It's called being "progressive", or "woke".

As I have said already. If those people in the third world want to get ahead in life and out of poverty, then they must stop having more than one or two children. Get them educated. Foreign aid only aids in their breeding of more children. In Canada, we have learned now that having more than three children is asking for trouble, unless one is a millionaire, even though most millionaires only have two children at most. It's those new third world immigrants that are coming to Canada by the hundreds of thousands every year are having more than three children. They all know that the more the better. It means more money for them. This is what "woke" and "progressive" has given us. More children on welfare than we can afford. Our dear comrade spend crazy political leaders could careless about getting Canadians out of debt. They appear to want to keep us in debt forever. Only liberals, socialists and communists could careless about debt.  Aw well.

I've been involved with local planning where I live for decades now. Do you realize just how many of these regulations are a result of people democratically electing to have by-laws to keep their communities livable?

I understand why it's done, at least on the part of people who already own homes. But the impact on the cost of new homes remains the same. It's quite heavy, and that makes it harder for people to move out of rentals, which backs everything up and makes all the rentals more expensive. Add in masses of newcomers; immigrants, asylum seekers, temporary foreign workers, foreign students, and it's not a big surprise that in certain cities we have ridiculously high housing costs.

In any case I'm still left wondering how long people will be willing to curb their resentment in a increasingly automated workplace in which human beings are unnecessary.

There's going to be trouble. I've been saying that for a while. I saw a thing which said the US Army, given decades of experience with recruitment and the draft, long ago decided that about 10% of the population couldn't be trained to do anything useful for them because they just weren't smart enough. I'm not sure what those people do today, probably things like janitor, security guard, parking lot attendant, maybe? But I have no idea what they'll do in the future when automation really kicks in and all the people smarter than them are suddenly without their truck driver, bus driver, taxi driver, construction worker, retail worker, etc. job. How many of these people are capable of being retrained for a job environment which requires not just education but a higher level of intelligence than they presently have. People forget that if 100 is the 'average' IQ then half the population falls below that. So what are they going to do with their lives?

Fight for them like cornered animals when they realize there's no one putting the brakes on being pushed over a cliff.

There's going to be trouble alright and we're approaching it with eyes wide shut. So yeah it seems there's no way to save civilization and the economy other than by destroying them first.

I'm sorry you were saying something about intelligence?

You are using scare tactics. All economists are saying that the debt will come down next year as the pandemic related government aids this tear over 200 billion will end and economy will grow at 5.5% so where on earth do you get the 600 bil figure for next year, Already due to partial opening last month alone close to a million new jobs was created.

I wish they  where scare tactics, These figures are from the liberals and Justins money boy, given to the media a few days ago...They are expecting the figure to raise for 20/21 to over 600 bil....And sure the economy can only get better, same as unemployment levels will only get better IF we are not hit with a second wave...., but that 343 is already debt added to the national debt, it's spent and gone, and no way is the economy going to recover that much in a few years, and if that was a fact why did we have a deficit of over 700 bil anyway...if it could be paid off so easily...

If someone's full time job pays them less than $2,000 a month, maybe that's the real problem.  If you had rent of $1000 a month, and a choice between an income of $1800 and $2000, which would you take?  Its pretty easy, when you have more than enough money coming in, to forget how hard it is to live on the edge.  Many of the "working poor" are already sleeping rough, and there'll be many more of those because of this pandemic, even with the "princely" sum of $2,000.

Anyway, most of those jobs are going to be in the service industry, and in the lower mainland and Kelowna we've already had outbreaks related to activity in restaurants, bars and strip joints.  Perhaps those people aren't so much lazy, as they are hesitant about putting themselves/their family in harm's way.

Not to mention, Canada added back over a million jobs in June, and experts think even more will come in July.

There more to consider than just " people are too lazy to work".

Righties support throwing children into the street so rich people can get richer.

It's not just a money issue, a lot of people are not ready to go back to work, because of health issues, here in NB, general workers or helpers are getting hard to find , contractors are having major issues find workers, lots of work no labor...

Yeah most of you seem oblivious to the use of analogies.

The analogy to the extinction of civilizations is that we're just about always reminded that it was okay for us to try and eliminate indigenous societies  because its something that just happens naturally. They were busy wiping out lesser civilizations themselves and if there was nothing special about their civilization's existence, what makes our's so special?

We're going to take our's out ourselves is all.

I don't understand your analogy, but I can offer up one of my own.

What happens to the winner in a game of MONOPOLI ?   Supposedly he is the winner; in real world he is the greatest loser, because he has destroyed everyone else, and his world cannot go any further.  Game over for him!

How can the game continue after he has won?  Easy.  He can give some of the accumulated money as loans to the bankrupt players and let them carry on what they are doing - produce goods and services, while getting further and further in debt to him.   Numbers do not matter at this point as no repayment is expected.  The goals is to keep the game continue, so the winner can continue to exist in the game.

This is the situation with the National Debt to you as an analogy.

I meant the passport of which country they hold. Like Canada's color of passport is different for example with green US passport and every country has its own color like a flag. Why was it so hard to understand?

You can respond with what you know about the National Debt, who the money is owed to, do you feel concerned - yes or no, and why

Canada's national debt explained. So as you see, we do owe that money to someone....

I see nothing.  Do you see anything?

The Interest Rate Trap

As a government’s national debt increases over time, so too do the interest payments needed to “service” the debt. The increased money needed to pay interest on the debt makes it even harder for a government to raise enough revenues to meet their expenditures. This leads to more borrowing, greater amounts of debt and even higher interest payments. This compounding cycle continues until a government manages to balance its budget or defaults on its financial obligations.

"balancing of budget" - it does not tell us if this means to have revenues that will cover all budgets including paying off the National Debt at certain rate (not just the interest on it).

Who the money is owed to? - I see nothing solid there either
