Because someone in her family had a Nazi history you believe she is a Nazi? Everyone has someone in their family with a bad history. I have an ancestor who was one of a small group of English businessmen who started selling Africans as slaves to the Colonies in America. He doesn't represent my views.

If O'Toole shows he is a Red Tory, he will stand a better chance of winning an election. I agree a social con will never win. Most voters are in the centre. We need to provide a welcoming place for Blue Liberals who are disenchanted with the PM's cavalier creation of the WE crisis.

What her family did happened less than 100 yrs ago. Compared to yours. But we have monuments to them in this country, so who cares eh?

I believe that the Liberals are trying to connect Canadians with guilt from further off than 1945, and I don't find naziism in the liberal party to be the least bit out of character.

Agree . . . . everyone is a 'victim'.  A victim of bad personal choices, a victim of this or that.  Everything that's wrong with you is someone else's fault.  John A. Macdonald caused you to sit on your fat lazy ass and eat 3lbs. of Oreo cookies.  Stephen Harper caused the fender to rust out on your '86 Oldsmobile Omega.  Donald Trump caused you to not show up for work . . . . the list is long.  Country of pussies and whimps . . . . no one's responsible for themselves.

The amount of money that WE Charity received from the federal government more than doubled after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals were first elected in 2015, according to reports.

Harper's lone 'scandal' - Maybe Harper was aware that his government paid back the $90K that Duffy "may have claimed fraudulently". BAM - 3 YEARS OF MEDIA SCRUTINY AND THE ASSUMPTION OF A CRUSHING LEVEL OF GUILT!

Trudeau's 3rd ethics investigation (guilty twice), still considered a non-scandal by media standards:

Trudeau was caught giving $900M taxpayer dollars to a charity that publishes propaganda about him and gives his immediate family members obscene amounts of money just to speak at events. It's known that his mom, wife and brother have received over $300K from We, it could be more for all we know, but he pretends not to know about it (like the Bidens, apparently the Trudeaus are so wealthy that they don't even notice when their family members earn vast sums of money in a short period of time). Trudeau also gave We $1.18M taxpayer dollars for an event that his mom was paid to speak at.

Side note: Trudeau also received a lot of money for speaking engagements when he was an MP. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/trudeau-promise-to-repay-speaking-fees-from-charities-doesnt-quell-controversy/article12621525/

Quote

Justin Trudeau revealed that he'd earned more than $1.3 million on the public speaking circuit since 2006, including $277,000 from 17 groups in the four years after winning election as an MP in 2008. He stopped accepting fees in June 2012, once he began seriously contemplating a leadership bid for the Liberal party.

Not all of the $277K was for charities, there were also some universities and some corporate events as well. Still, the Trudeaus are approaching, or maybe even over, half a million dollars taken in from schools and charities since he has been an elected MP, Leader of the Opposition, and PM.

FWIW he has also double-billed charities and the government for the same services. God forbid he ever pays anything out of his own pocket.

Still, morons drool at the sight of him.

The irony of getting paid that much, and giving that much taxpayer money (almost a billion) to promote volunteering is laughable.

This is textbook corruption by the Trudeaus.

Sadly with the country distracted by COVID and the Opposition without a leader, this probably won't effect him too much.

Teflon Don Trudeau rides on. Nothing can stop this out of control comrade cowboy. This is Canada, don't you know? Most Canadians could give a shit as to what comrade Trudeau does to them or their tax dollars. If they did comrade Trudeau would have already been booted out of his party, and maybe be in jail somewhere in Canada.

What the liberal conservative party should be saying today is that if we are elected as the next government we will go after comrade Trudeau and have him put in jail. Ha-ha-ha. It will never happen because the liberal conservative party will be no better than the Trudeau liberal party. Pretty much all politicians are nothing more than a bunch of cheats, thieves and liars.

There is only real and true conservative political party to vote for in the next election is the PPC party and Maxine Bernier. WE like charity scandals will be a thing of the past with the PPC. Believe it or not. ;)

This 'Charity' is like a big Ponzi scheme for Liberal politicians. Money gets put in there and a portion of it comes back out to the people who put it in there.

Only in this case it's taxpayer money going in, and when the money comes out people know exactly where it's coming from and why. "We just got $300K for 'speaking' wink, wink. All we did was disseminate Liberal propaganda to children! BWAAAHAHAHAHAhahahahaaaaaaa!"

I would guess that foreign charities operate in the exact same way. Give $1B to 'Hugebigotstan', get a nice chunk of change on the down-low.

Bill Morneau . . . . . 'oversight' of  $41,000.-  on his WE dealings.  According to him, he just noticed this 'oversight' this morning before testifying at the inquiry.  This fucker is the Finance Minister and this (theft) 'oversight' is just another day at the office . . . .   What a sad pathetic country this has become  . . . .

So apparently, after the Canadaland web site released information on WE the reporters were investigated by a private investigation firm, which gave the information to WE. We has repeatedly threatened to sue Canadaland, and specifically to do so in Manitoba because Manitoba does not have anti SLAP legislation. Sure sounds like an open and above board bunch of folks the Liberals have aligned their party with.

Information and Systems Networks Corporation (ISN), a Canadian private investigative firm, conducted background checks on two journalists at the behest of a law firm, according to one of the journalists, Jesse Brown, the publisher of the Canadaland news website and podcast, who spoke to CPJ in a phone interview and shared one page of the background check report on TwitterExternal link on July 2, 2020.

The investigation targeted Brown and Jaren Kerr, a reporter who previously worked at Canadaland.

The page published on Twitter includes information about Brown and his wife and children, including speculation on the school his children attend.

This whole thing is getting slimier and slimier...   what kind of Charity pays for luxury trips and holds millions in real estate.   If Morneau steps down, who would replace him, surely not Minister Joly.

"Yesterday, the Morneau-McCain family reached out to us to ask if, in fact, their trip had been complimentary. We confirmed that it was." It would seem that Morneau and WE are having trouble keeping their stories straight.

The We charity also initially lied about payments to the Trudeau family. https://www.freshdaily.ca/news/2020/07/we-charity-scandal-justin-trudeau/ (I've heard this mentioned a few times but never by CTV or CBC. Took me a bit to find a link which stated this)

Quote

Although the charity initially denied paying speaking fees to Margaret and Alexandre Trudeau, they later walked their statement back after Canadaland obtained invoices showing payments ranging from $32,000 to $250,000.

Then there's this: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/trudeau-government-contributed-1-18-million-to-we-day-event-in-2017-during-which-pms-mother-was-likely-paid-to-speak

Quote

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked WE Charity to host a 2017 Canada Day weekend event on Parliament Hill, the organization’s co-founder said, for which the government paid $1.18 million. And Trudeau’s mother, who had been receiving fees for making public appearances at WE events at the time, was a speaker at the event.

The pattern of Gov'y money in, Trudeau family profit is a bit more direct here. This isn't a mere matter of "failing to recuse one's self", it's a matter of the PM taking direct action to get We to host an event where they paid his mom to speak. The trail of taxpayer money directly from Trudeau's own spoken request to We and then directly to his mom couldn't be more clear.

Theoren Fleury said that he was asked to speak at a We charity event but he was told that they don't pay people to speak at their events.

The focus of the We charity scandal seems to be shifting to Bill Morneau now, for accepting money to help pay for his two charitable trips.

Personally, I’m not offended by him being reimbursed for trips that were done in the name of charity.

What I am greatly offended by is Trudeau asking We to host events, which are given federal money, and then in turn We gives some of those taxpayer dollars to Trudeau’s mother to speak.

To me this all looks like Morneau is being asked to fall on his sword to protect Trudeau. What’s worse is, Morneau doesn’t even really look that guilty. What he did was not nearly as bad as what Trudeau did.

It’s like if a Mafia boss murders someone in broad daylight but the MSM puts public focus on the need for police to go after his henchman for not paying to park at the hospital when he visited his mom.

This scandal is all about Trudeau imo. Morneau is a side-scandal.

Wondering how the constant foul spotlight on 'The Turd' is affecting the Liberal cabinet?  At what point does a caucus member realize that they've 'been played' . . . . they've been lumped in with an inept liar, an entitled shitpump, a thief . . . .   A smart caucus member would be looking to cut their personal loss of credibility and self-esteem.  To scrape the shit off of their shoe . . . .

I don't know why this isn't in any of the two CANADIAN  24-hour news channel.  Yo - CBC and CTV ,  wakey-wakey!

LOL, Betsy - good luck with that.  The Communist Broadcasting Network aka cbc is solidly in the liberal camp and nothing less than defunding that useless biased network will suffice.  The CTV though not quite as heavily biased as the cbc, are still on the virtue-signalling band wagon with a heavy emphasis on featuring anyone with an unsubstantiated axe to grind or the latest whinge about someone's hurt feelings.  Both go to great lengths to dig up that type of garbage in order to avoid more coverage of the latest in the long line of Truduea/Morneau scandals.

Whenever there is a scandal with Trudeau, CBC projects itself as a news channel and yet, if you follow its follow-up message - it tries to "reason"  with the viewer.

It actively seeks out any comments that it deems against it's virtue-signalling left-leaning ideology, Betty.  Imagine that.  A government supported network that does all it can to suppress free speech.

The leftist liberal/socialist media party(Global/CTV/CBC)will always try to hide the real issues and the real story. They are never to be trusted plus our lying politicians ever again. They both are real and true enemies of we the people. They exist to serve and are both puppets on a string for the globalist deep state swamp elite to keep us from ever getting the real truth and the other side of the story. Take advantage of the alternative media while you can before those rats try and get rid of them all. The Rebel and The RightEdition are great sources for getting the other side of the story. Andrew MacDougal makes it pretty clear who was responsible for this contract.

In this (still-surfacing) version of events, a charity with a long association with the prime minister, his family and his advisers, one that pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to Trudeau’s family members and puts together slick, campaign-style videos promoting the prime minister while simultaneously receiving millions of dollars of government grants and contributions and other sole-source contracts, is being laid low by the pernicious effects of the coronavirus. There is massive churn on the board of directors and large numbers of staff are being laid off as Canada enters lockdown. All looks lost. Until, that is, the Trudeau government comes to the rescue with an offer to administer a pandemic-related program.

Not that WE had ever delivered a similar program, mind you. Not that WE even have the staff to deliver the program (the charity had to hire back hundreds of laid-off staff in anticipation of getting the work before the program was formally announced in June). Not that WE even have any particularly good ideas to pull students into the program, other than throwing money at other groups to do it for them. And we’re meant to believe this group was the “only” one capable of delivering the program?
