Liberals threaten election if opposition keeps asking about WE

Recommended Posts

The totally innocent Liberals, who had nothing to do with the WE contract, which was completely the work of the public service, and so didn't really shut down parliament to close down the committees looking into it are now threatening an election if the opposition forces the issue. Because... because there's absolutely nothing there to see! They're like, totally innocent! So there's no point in investigating! None! So if the opposition insists then that will be a confidence issue. Sorry! Obviously nothing the Liberals can do. And this has nothing to do with trying to cover up what shady goings on occurred between them and WE. Which, for some reason, has quickly shut down and left the country.

I think that the truth is in-between... they're not innocent but there isn't outright theft here... just the usual shitty glad-handing and no-imagination government, waste of resources etc.

Also a craptacular overplayed game of Liberal chicken to threaten an election on this issue but ok.

Liberals double down on election threat. The Liberals complaint about turning committees into 'partisan inquisitions' is laughable given what they did to them during the Tory minority government. Not to mention how they use and misuse and abuse the committees now, with trained seals taking their marching orders from the PMO. The Liberals say they will make any vote on committees a confidence vote, which would trigger an election should they lose.

The Liberals say they are ready to send Canadians to the polls to avoid a Conservative bid to study the government’s ethical controversies.

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole confirmed the party would call debate on its motion to create a special committee on Tuesday but said they will change the name of the committee, which was first billed as an “anti-corruption” committee. The proposed new name is the “special committee on allegations of misuse of public funds by the government during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada.”

“We hope this is about accountability and not about an election,” Mr. O’Toole told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday.

However that compromise was not enough for the Liberals, who said they would not support turning committees into “partisan inquisitions.” Government House Leader Pablo Rodriguez on Monday warned the Liberals would see this as a confidence motion and on Tuesday confirmed an election is on the line if the opposition pursues the committee.

The real question here is, are the Conservatives ready for an election, can they win ? a lot of negatives in the rights corner, new leader, unknown leader, Liberals lead in the polls. What kind of platform are they going to need to win, remember Canadians don't give a rats ass about politics, they want cold hard cash baby, its 2020, and they might have to outspend Justin and his band of lairs.

No they're absolutely not.

It's just a question of the optics heading into the election.  If it looks like Trudeau forced the issue and they can frame it as an attempt to hide corruption, the narrative isn't good for the Liberals.  Trudeau and co. now have an identity of poor judgment and ethical gaffes.

If it looks like the conservatives pushed the issue too hard, it will look like playing politics during a health crisis.

There are two sides to this. On the one side, the Liberals are basically saying they're willing to risk people dying in order to avoid questions about WE. Not a good look. Trudeau said in the same press conference that he won't let his kids go Trick or Treating. Yet he wants to gather people in meeting halls, in riding offices, in all the poll stations where we will be going to vote. He's willing to risk that. Why? To cover up his corruption. His indignation about the opposition not having confidence in him is unlikely to be bought by anyone with an IQ over 80.

On the other side what he'd like to do is call a snap election for the shortest possible time period. With Covid there likely wouldn't be the usual door to door campaign, likely wouldn't be big packed audiences, with the leaders able to move from town to town, city to city to get their message across. He's sitting in the cat bird seat as the government, ahead in the polls largely due to all the money he's spent.  Without the opposition being able to shift the polls by heavily campaigning he'll probably get in again. And, he hopes, with a majority so he can firmly shut down all question about his corruption.

The conservative leadership campaign was basically invisible once covid hit. No meetings, just online stuff and phone calls. There wasn't much of an opportunity to shift things. He's counting on the same thing in an election. And he's counting on hitting Canadians just as they're grateful for all the money, and before they start worrying about the massive debt load. Not to mention before he hits them with heavy tax increases.

I'm hoping for an election because TBH I still don't believe in polling data that has liberals ahead so comfortably.

If it's really true, then Canadians truly are the dumbest sheeple on the planet.

Already proven numerous times. Mr. Trudeau knows it and he wants that power grab. Virus be damned.

Go ahead Teflon Don Trudeau call an election and make my day. :D

Unfortunately, NDP will make sure that doesn't happen.  Singh will prop up Trudeau.  Mind you, with the polls showing Liberals ahead - we might end up with a Trudeau majority.  So.....it'll be a gamble if we go to the polls.

If the Conservative party started acting like a real and true Conservative party that once believed in less government, less taxes, and more freedom they would probably be the next party in power. But sadly, the CP has become just as liberal pas the liberal party is. They just move a little slower towards socialism than what the liberals do. Personally, I do not think that most Canadians care about anything but themselves. Most of them only think about money and think that it is all about me-me-me. Stupidity runs rampant here in Canada. The country is going to hell under Marxist Trudeau and many are still ready to vote for the buffoon. 60 years of french socialist Quebec politics has been responsible for that.

The only polls to believe are the polls after the election. Here in Canada our lying leftist liberal bought off media will always try to make Trudeau look good and he is up in the polls. And if Teflon Don Trudeau really is then you are right? Canadians have to be the most dumbest stupid morons on earth. ;)

Don't trust any polls, especially here in Canada. They are all fake polls being pushed by the leftist pro liberal lying media in Canada. If we did end up with a Marxist Trudeau majority, well, God help us all. We will all end up living in a communist country. There can be no doubt about that one. Marxist Trudeau has said that he does admire communist China, and it is believed that Trudeau may be the son of Fidel Castro. A rumor that may be true. Hey, we never know, eh? ;)
