My enemies are the speech banning, gun grabbing totalitarian enemies of American freedom which is embodied in the Declaration of Independence preamble and associated light of civilization itself.

No force in history has done more to advance the human condition than American freedom, to include for the poor and disillusioned, the reason they were poor is disillusioned in the first place being because they were not free, did not have property rights and so could not secure any other right after.

I don't pick enemies, they pick themselves when they set out to undermine freedom, usually  in the name of some collectivist totalitarian post scarcity utopia.

In terms of people consuming resources, that's not a deliberate attack on my freedoms, so that's not a casus belli, and making war on that would be pointless, that's the sort of thing these totalitarian collectivists do, that's not my doctrine.

If you go down path of making war on people for non partisan, non ideological reasons, that's how you end with scapegoats, and then you attack innocent people who were just trying to make their way in this world, and probably wanted American freedom too and so were your allies not your enemies.

Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, extremism in the defense of the "environment" is an utopian crusade which leads to Malthusian mass liquidations of innocent people, usually ethnic minorities and Jews. International Socialism and National Socialism are two sides of the same totalitarian post scarcity utopian coin.

America is the only free country, they are the only ones who defend freedom, if America falls, all is lost, but we'll take those bastards with us when she goes, they'll never drink a drop from the Mississippi, Launch on Warning, DEFCON One, better dead than Red.

I believe that if Canada were living next to China, and not America, Canada should be pretty much communist today although we are not far from becoming a communist country very soon anyway thanks to the french leftist liberals from Quebec that have been running and ruining this country for decades now. Again, carbon taxes are just another creation started by the french from Quebec. It is not hard to see and believe that Quebec does own this once great WASP nation called Canada today and they are bringing Canada to ruin. Carbon taxes is just one of the many bull chit programs and agendas that the french have foisted and dumped on the rest of Canada. Just saying.

You have to distinguish between Montreal and the rest of Quebec, the Federalist Liberal pseudo communists are mostly from places like Westmount and Outremont, outside of Montreal the majority of Quebecers are ethno-nationalist conservatives, far more so than the WASP's in English Canada, most WASPs in English Canada are "Progressives".

It's the same as Ontario, most of the commies are in downtown Toronto, most of the rest of the province is Tory Blue.

It's not English v. French anymore, as in America, it's rural and suburban v. the urban leftist kooks.

It was french leftist liberal Quebec that gave Canada bilingualism, multiculturalism, massive third world immigration, a massive foreign aid budget, and the french metric system which btw the majority never asked for. This all was started by old man commie Trudeau. Those WASP anglophone commies from Westmount and Outremont are the traitors to Anglophone Canada also. The battle of the Plains of Abraham will always be there and forever being fought over again and again. The french leftist liberal elite of Quebec have only one goal in mind. Kick the hell out of the Anglophones as much as possible and try and take everything they own for us to take over and own. They want the rest of Canada as their own property.

I often wonder what the rest of Canada would be like today if Quebec had of separated in their last referendum way back when to leave the rest of Canada? I believe that the french liberals and socialists would never have gained the ground that they have gained and have pretty much been able to turn Canada into a french speaking socialist controlled country. And on top of all those mentioned programs and agendas above the french are now trying to dump another communist program on the rest of Canada called the carbon tax. The carbon tax is just another big scheme and tax grab to go back into the coffers of Quebec to help Quebec take and keep control of Canada. Quebec is no friend of Canada, just it's enemy.

Lucky for the people of Alberta today. Jason Kenney has just announced that the carbon tax will soon be gone in Alberta. It is just the opposite in BC where they NDP socialists/Greenies will probably be looking for more excuses to apply even more carbon taxes on gasoline for we the people of BC have to just suck up. These political idiots that we have running Canada and BC cannot seem to see that all of their communist programs and agendas are bankrupting Canada and Canadians. Canada is truly being run by the insane. What else can it be.

Quebec is not your enemy, Confederation is. Without Confederation, all your complaints about Quebec vanish. Vive le Quebec libre!

I always have Canada in mind.  If I wanted to have the type of freedom they have in the States, I would have been there.  But I do not.

This type of freedom where every week some 15-20 kids or someones employees get killed in a mass shooting is not really my type of thing.

Freedom is one thing, but having masses of stupid, irresponsible or downright crazy people requires those to be managed and limited in some of the destruction they can potentially cause.

Sorry but total freedom is not a really good thing.  We may as well each grab a gun and start killing ourselves; the ultimate freedom.

Sorry that you are a deluded Canadian nanny stater who is allowing Canada to become a speech banning gun grabbing tyranny in the name of gun control which doesn't stop mass shootings in Canada.  You'll just end up with speech bans and mass shootings as the discontent in Canada continues to escalate, but clearly you have succumb to the Canadian disease of rallying around tyranny and totalitarianism in the name of the state protecting you from yourself.

Why would you fear me?   I am nothing if not law abiding.

While I find Canadian gun control to be absurd, I none the less follow the regulations to the letter, my oath to Her Majesty includes obeying her laws of course.

Frankly, if you're not involved in high risk gang activity, I would say the most likely people to shoot you in Canader are the trigger happy nanny state police.

The AR15s on the street in Canada are almost all carried by cops who aren't particularly well trained but who are far too quick to use force on the drop of a hat.

If you ever go to a gun range in Canada, I think you will find that the legal gun owners there are completely law abiding, and mostly doctors, lawyers, and businessmen like me.

You should also note that sales of AR15's in Canada right now are the highest they've ever been, rumours of the Liberals banning them is inciting them to fly off the shelves.

Of course the totalitarian left wing state media in downtown Toronto is able to render millions of legal and law abiding gun owners into invisible non persons.

But I gather that is what you and Cougar prefer, so there's no point in debating it I suppose.

Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt you when the totalitarian collectivists and their inevitable failure incites ever more scapegoating of ethnic minorities and Jews.

And now for something completely different: Climate stuff! More specifically, the kind of stuff which makes cynical conservatives doubt the truth of the climate change set.

This week in Vancouver, Prime Minister Trudeau said the federal carbon tax, a key pillar in his government’s climate policy, will help protect Canadians from extreme weather. “Extreme weather events are extraordinarily expensive for Canadians, our communities and our economy,” he said, citing the recent tornadoes in Ottawa and wildfires in Western Canada. “That’s why we need to act.”

While members of the media may nod along to such claims, the evidence paints a different story. Roger Pielke Jr. is a scientist at University of Colorado in Boulder who, up until a few years ago, did world-leading research on climate change and extreme weather. He found convincing evidence that climate change was not leading to higher rates of weather-related damages worldwide, once you correct for increasing population and wealth. He also helped convene major academic panels to survey the evidence and communicate the near-unanimous scientific consensus on this topic to policymakers. For his efforts, Pielke was subjected to a vicious, well-funded smear campaign backed by, among others, the Obama White House and leading Democratic congressmen, culminating in his decision in 2015 to quit the field.

That's old news.  All evidence to the contrary of the collectivist centrally planned agenda are suppressed, have been all along and ongoing.

That's all Bolshevik means; Majoritarian.

So it's just going to protect Canadians?  How is Mr. Trudeau going to isolate this protection to just our border?

More importantly how are they going to protect themselves from interests simply shifting their capital out of Canada to other jurisdictions?  Otherwise known as a job killer tax.

Our resident zionist despises anyone who talks common sense and logic and speaks political incorrectness. They fear hearing the truth and thus they have to resort to name calling or just plain silly talk. Canada is truly full of the Joe and Mary ill informed communist supporting six pack types. They continue to want to live in a world of doom and gloom. Deplorable, as Hillary would say. LOL.

Zionism is not to blame, Zionists are gun rights defenders, Israelis pack heat like American Red Staters,   self hating Jews are not actually Zionists.

Why would I oppose a homeland for the Jews which is really just a Canada of their very own? How can you support Canada but be opposed to the Zionist Canada called Israel?

Quebec is the only province which has refused to sign on, Quebec is not technically in Confederation since it declined to sign the Canada Act 1982.

It's the Anglos in Toronto who are the Guardians of Confederation, that is who mandates that Quebec must be bribed into not openly declaring secession.

And that corruption is the core of all the rest of corruption in Confederation.

Which is already a failed state, but which the narrow entrenched interests profit from none the less.

I would like to talk more about Zionism but I think that we have gone way off the topic. I have got chit many times for going off topic too much. Let's get back to the topic of the carbon tax.

Oh, well, IIRC, the Zionists do have a carbon tax, I was under the impression that Israel prices carbon at around 30 euros per ton.

They are however developing offshore oil and gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean which is why they have been building up the IDF navy lately.

The problem is not the carbon tax per se, the problem is that Canada is a fundamentally undemocratic de facto tyranny by entrenched bureaucracy which is simply a Self Licking Ice Cream Cone existing merely to propagate its own existence, and in order to rule arbitrarily, whores itself out to the entrenched interest barnacled Confederation which functions like a Company Town wherein Boss Hog and the Unions run everything, and anybody who threatens their narrow vested interests is immediately accused of heretical thought crime.

As those entrenched interests include academic, media and cultural elites, that is who functions as the state propaganda arm for the purposes of indoctrinating the rubes, censoring inconvenient truth and shouting down dissenting voices with a publicly funded megaphone and access controlling regulation.

There is no other feasible solution to limiting Canada's CO2 emissions which are a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.

A regulated solution will just lead to another bureaucratic dance orchestrated from Ottawa. Nor can the federal government pass this ball off to provincial governments. Only a federal tax will work.

Ideally, the feds must impose a tax on anyone who emits CO2 into the atmosphere. The tax should apply at the moment of emission (or as close to that as possible) so that we create the correct incentives to limit them. This would also create an incentive to develop mechanisms for sequestration.

I would suggest two approaches to a carbon tax:

First, start small with the potential to ratchet up the tax according to its effects.

Second, return all carbon tax revenues to the province where the tax was collected. The revenues of the carbon tax could be refunded to the provincial governments or ideally to individuals.

This is the simplest, most cost effective way to deal with this problem.

Offsets are not a solution and risk to become another placebo. (Offsets are the latest stylish buzz word. People as varied as David Suzuki, the Bare Naked Ladies and Lancome's supermodels all employ offsets. This means they give money abroad and then claim that this reduces the CO2 emissions equal to the emissions of their own travel and lifestyle. Offsets are a private version of Kyoto.)

Giving me the money back I spent on carbon taxes is not going to alter my spending habits. In fact it's been proven over and over again that taxes in general do NOT alter people's spending habits. Unless the goal is to tax them into the poor house.
