OPP finally act

Recommended Posts

I thought it was two 14 year old girls being thrown off a bridge. Oka certainly sems to have a disproportionately high population of 14 year-old girls...

14 year old girls are fighting for the land. They are very committed warriors.

There were two at Kahnawake, thrown off Mercier bridge, and one at Oka stabbed.

Absolutely. Remember Somalia in 1993? That provides ample evidence of the ruthless behavior of some Canadian soldiers. The murder of an innocent boy is one thing but the military cover-up is a whole other subject.

I sure do remember it, I was there, were you?

I was attached to the Airborne, went over on HMCS Presever as part of an advance contingent to secure the port and airfield in order to facilitate the establishment of a secure area for coalition troops to establish a secure base camp.

By the way, the incident you refer to involved one primary perpetrator, his name was Clayton Matchee, a Native from New Brunswick. He was apparently always a psycho bastard, the guys in his own unit didn't even want to be around him.

As for the cover up, that was purely political, masterminded and guided by the Liberal government.

In answer to their problem they decided to scapegoat a young private by the name of Kyle Brown. He took pictures of Clayton torturing and beating Shidane Arone to death and tried to submit them as evidence of wrong doing. Instead his evidence was turned against him and used as proof of complicity in the act performed by Clayton.

So Kyle was scapegoated and used to shut down the enquiry when it got too close to the Liberals.

Does that answer your question? "Remember Somalia in 1993?"

No doubt you concede it answered yours.....

"Does that sort of behaviour seem in keeping with what you think Canada's military does?"

What the army did at Whiskey Trench was not beyond what misfits do when whipped into a frenzy.

And BTW you can call me Captain, soldier.

Oh the Mohawk have resorted to using child soldiers, have they? That sounds like a human rights violation to me...

By the way you can show a little respect for someone who outranks you, if you were indeed actually a Captain as you claim.

Captain is one of the lower ranks in the officer corps. Its a position given to younger guys who show some potential but cannot be trusted with too much leeway at their age.

Does that describe you?

In the interest of full disclosure:

Are you know or ever have been an officer or employee of Alcan or her subideriaries?

How dare you denigrate the trauma of these two young girls. Have you no humanity whatsoever?

Man you are so full of it. Why don't you learn what happened at Whiskey Trench? It was an angry civilian mob throwing rocks, not the Military. Our budget may be inadequate but they haven't resorted to issuing rocks to us yet.

Please try and stay glued to reality, and come back to Earth from that other planet you're currently wandering around on.

The reality is the army was ordered to clear the Mercier bridge that spans between Chateauguay and Kahnawake and in doing so assaulted women and children. One soldier ran a bayonet through Waneek Horn-Miller, a fourteen-year-old Mohawk girl (yes, that would be the daughter of Kahentinetha Horn). They threw women off the bridge and corralled and beat anyone that got in their way. It was a frenzy of misfit soldiers out of control.

So unless you are just full of shit for the sake of it I suggest you do your research before coming here and trying to spin a web of lies to protect the misfit Canadian Armed Forces. Go watch the movie and then come back and discuss it.

Early summer 1990: The municipality of Oka, Que. decides to expand a nine-hole golf course onto land held sacred by the Mohawk community of Kanehsatake. The residents of Kanehsatake resist and put up barricades.

July 11, 1990: The Quebec Provincial Police attack Mohawk barricades. A police corporal is killed in the exchange of gunfire at Oka. In solidarity with the aboriginal peoples at Kanehsatake, Mohawks from Kahnawake seize the Mercier Bridge, cutting off one of Montreal's main commuter arteries.

Angry mobs in the nearby Montreal suburb of Chateauguay riot nightly by the bridge, burning Mohawks in effigy.

Obomsawin and a small crew go to the Oka site to begin documenting the crisis. Eventually, because it is dangerous, she is left alone to gather footage and sound with a video camera and a Nagra recorder.

August 1990: Canadian troops are called in.

Aug. 28, 1990: Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa advises the army to take down the barricades on the bridge. Fearing a military confrontation, and on the advice of Mohawk leaders, Mohawk women, children and elders flee across the bridge. Here, they are confronted by a rock-throwing mob.

Obomsawin, still in Oka, sees the events unfold on television. "It was an awful day," she now says.

Sept. 26, 1990: The stand-off in Oka ends. Obamsawin stays several weeks longer. "I stayed around because people had been jailed and I wanted to interview them," she says.

January 1991 to 1997: Obomsawin and editors start going over all the footage. It takes three months just to sort through it. The first assembly is 12 hours. Eventually, over the next several years, much of the footage is used for Obomsawin's first three films, which cover different aspects of the Oka crisis: Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance in 1993, My Name is Kahentiiosta in 1995 and Spudwrench - Kahnawake Man in 1997.

Wow! You really like to make stuff up don't you!

I should have known after your blatant and flagrant lies about being a military member. From what I can see you're more a military hater than anything else.

Of COURSE we are making this all up. Go watch the movies and the news reports included in the documentary. I just LOVE how they reproduced all that gore and violence. They even used lots of fake blood and make that woman's hip look broken. You sure are a smart boy!

Of course you haven't a clue and were probably one of the misfits doing the knifing.

Rocks at Whiskey Trench is a re-examination of the rock-throwing incident near the town of Chateauguay in August 1990 when, under fear of army attack, elderly women and men and children were driven out of the Kahnawake Reserve to supposed safety. Their 75-car convoy, after being help up by the police, was stoned by the residents of Chateauguay. It is a highly emotional event caught on tape, and Obomsawin replays the scene continuously as many of the participants on the receiving end of the stones remember their experiences."

It appears the woman who made the documentary states it was a civilian mob throwing rocks. No mention of all the rocks the Natives were throwing though. I do however remember the broken hip incident. She was tossed off the bridge, of course she wasn't doing a blessed thing to deserve that, right?

Of course you haven't a clue and were probably one of the misfits doing the knifing.

Now that last statement of yours is just downright embarrassing, I'm really happy I didn't say something so childish. You make ridiculous statements like that and expect to be taken seriously, thats almost as bad as your blatant lies about being a military member.

Speaking of humanity, the other day I was reading one of your posts on somebody's blog and you were just ranting away about that elderly couple that was attacked by Six Nations Indians, the man being sent to the hospital as a result. I was shocked at how you dismissed what they went through, and tried to pin the blame on them. You even claimed that they didn't look all that old, when in fact they were in their late 60s or in their 70s. How utterly pathetic.

And drunk and potty-mouthed and tried to run down two people.

Well let me tell you pyles, if you could figure away to throw rocks with the windows in the car rolled all the way up, then I think I can get you a job with Conklins Carnie. Next time you WATCH THE VIDEO then perhaps you can tell us how Waneek Horn-Miller ran into the bayonet. She is after all an Olympic Runner......

You should join the army Angus. They are looking for people like you....and you know you would fit right in.....

If a gang of non-Indians were to attack members of the Six Nations every time they were "drunk and potty-mouthed" the current population of the Six Nations Reserve would be about 50 souls...

 particularly in Caledonia :P

Ahhh, more specious and juvenile insults. I guess you have a short attention span as I've clearly stated on numerous occasions that I retired after twenty years service. So as for your comment regarding joining the Army, been there, done that. Please try to pay a little more attention and spend less time making up lies about being a captain.

As for the rest. As usual in your world view, the Natives are as pure as the wind driven snow. I guess you forget about the cop they killed. Or is that just hunky dory as far as you are concerned? I don't know how old you are but I think you may have been too young to see the whole thing when it went down. I remember watching it. Plenty of natives throwing rocks and assaulting the troops with baseball bats and the like. I suppose in Posit world its just fine for someone to pitch rocks at your head and attempt to beat you with a baseball bat if they are Native. Not to mention the killing of a police officer. Which was the entire reason the military was called in initially.

I've noticed that, apart from the outright lies you like to spout, you also only ever present or even consider one side of the story. This is a rather severe short-coming on your behalf and is a major reason that many do not lend any weight to what you have to say.
